West of Scotland Cup Round 1
Bellshill Athletic 2 v 1 Greenock Juniors

Team Formation 4-4-1-1
As the Greenock management predicted, this game was always going to be a tight affair.
The opening 10 minutes saw the home team come out guns blazing but the visitors defended strongly and gradually pushed Bellshill back.
The match soon became a midfield battle with neither side creating any fluency.
On 30 minutes Greenock created the best chance so far when Alan Barnes went one-on-one with the goalkeeper but his shot was well saved by the home keeper.
Half time was called and with the score 0-0 it looked like the rest would be as slow as before.
This quickley changed when, 10 minutes into the second half, Bellshill took the lead, a Flannery shot was blocked by Davie Rodgers only to see it picked up again being finished into the goal.
Greenock hit back quickley and after 61 minutes Harry McLachlan put a telling cross into the box which was handled by a Bellshill player, and the refere awarded a penatly to Greenock. Colin Sutherland eagerly stepped up and tied the game 1-1.
The game now returned to a tough physical battle and penalties looked inevitable until a scramble in the Greenock box after 86 mintues saw Muir put prod the ball home just off the line.
It looked that the player was well offside and the Greenock team was furious and couldn't change the decision and the game ended 2-1.
Bellshill Athletic make their way into the second round of the West of Scotland Cup despite Greenock's best efforts and a controversial conclusion to a very close game.
