Greenock Juniors  3  v  1   Carluke Rovers

4-4-2

Greenock marked their return home with a 3-1 victory over Carluke Rovers on saturday.   After several weeks playing away Stephen Mooney's side held on to their second place spot in the Second Division with a win over a weak carluke side . After only four minutes Crawford passed a long ball to Joe Gilmour inside the Carluke box, Despite their defenders best efforts to keep the ball off the line Gilmour strike was enough to put it past Russell Shaw and make it 1-0.

An early goal was unable to inspire Greenock and many chances in the first 45 minutes were thrown away.  Opportunities for Cannon and Gilmour came close but were unable to find there targets or get past Shaw.

Both teams looked sharper as they came out in the second half, but neither side was exceptional.  Greenock remained the stronger team and 20 minutes in they made it 2-0. Harry Mclachlan pulled off a strong strike over the Carluke defence from 18 yards and scored the best goal of the game.

Greenock made it 3-0 after 83 minutes when a corner was met by a glancing header from Malone towards goal and was given a last touch by Colin Sutherland into Shaw's bottom left corner. Stewart Arnott for Carluke managed to pull one back in the 90th minute after a frantic scramble in the Greenock box but it wasn't enough to turnaround their
disapointing performance and the game ended 3-1.
