Greenock 1 v 1 Johnstone Burgh
Greenock were very unlucky to take only a share of the spoils in this final Sectional League Cup encounter after Johnstone equalised with virtually the last kick of the ball.
Stephen Mooney's side started strongly and were creating various scoring opportunities, largely through the clever lay-offs of Jp Dow and the strong, tricky running of new signing Gilmour in midfield.
After only 30 minutes Kevin Brown was brought on for the injured Crawford and the substite waste no time in putting the home side one nil up after a neat back post header from a carefully excuted Barnes cross on the right.
Just before the half-time, Greenock had the chance to go two ahead when a Barnes snap shot went narrowly wide after he had been set-up by the overlapping Docherty.
In the second half Mooney's side again looked the likeliest to add to their lead, with Burgh looking a poor shadow of the side which defeated Port Glasgow 3-0 at Ravenscraig two weeks earlier.
Johnstone's few attempts on the home goal were comfortably dealt with by Greenock custodian Davie Rodgers, who belied his lack of height by commanding his box and holding dangerous crosses.
With 93 minutes on the clock, Burgh took advantage of a moment's lack of co-ordination in Greenock's very well organised home defence to score with a tap-in at hte back post from the unmarked midfielder Crawford.
It was rough justice for Mooney's side who deserved all three points but had to settle for one.
Best for Greenock were Campbell, Church & Barnes. Man of the Match was full back Thomas Docherty. Greenock Forward Jp Dow was red carded for his second caution in 70 minutes..
