Stonehouse Violet 0 v 1 Greenock Juniors

Jp.Dow 1st half goal secures first 3 points for Greenock
Greenock got back on the winning trail with a 1-0 victory over Stonehouse Violet at Tilework Park.
It was, as expected, an uncompromising affair with the opening 20 minutes being dominated bt crunching tackles and bad tempered individuals as both teams attempted to assert their authority.
As the first period progressed to the halfway point, Greenock began to gain the upper hand, demonstrated by Jp Dow header from a Martin Dow corner, which flew only inches past.
In 28 minutes Joe Gilmour went past two defenders before unleasing a 20 yard drive which Violets goalkeeper Brunton did well to smother.
Only five minutes later Thomas Docherty went to the byeline, before drilling the ball across which evaded a touch home by any number of in-rushing Greenock players.
With the half-time whistle approaching Stephen Mooney's side were dominant to the point that their Keeper Graham had been virtually idle.
Greenock's pressure eventually paid off right on half-time when Jp Dow latched on to a Barrnet back header before clinically drilling the ball home.
While the second half continued to be dominated by Greenock it did display a much more adventurous home side as they searched for the equaliser.
