Greenock 1 v 3 St.Roch's
This was a strangely below par performance from Greenock Considering their promising displays in the League Cup section where they only lost one of four games.
After going one-up in the first half through Alan Barnes, they conceded two goals in quick succession at the start of the second period and never really got going again..
Stephen Mooney's side started the match strongly and were playing some neat possession football. Last seasons players player of the year Alan Barnes was again linking up well with centre forward Jp Dow and he had two or three early strikes at the Roch's kepper, Mehigan.
Greenock took the lead after only 18minutes when a long throw in by Thomas Docherty on the right touchline was nodded on by Church, as Alan Barnes well placed header nestled into the visitors net.
The home side won a succession of free-kicks outside the Candy Rocks box, but these were poorly struck by Barnes and McShane.
The Ravenscraig side's defence was caught napping at the start of the second half, which allowed the visitors to score two well executed goals.
For the first of these defender Church hesitition inside the six-yard box allowed Rocks forward Craig to nip in and strike the ball high into the net beyond Sean Graham from three yards.
With only eight minutes of the second half gone, St Roch's went into 2-1 lead when a great run down the right wing by Rodger ended with a cross into the box, which evaded the home defence, and centre forward Craig was again on hand to knock the ball high into the net at the back post.
Mooney's side never really recovered from this set back and the inevitable third goal duly came for the visitors in the 69th minute.
A Roch's corner broke loose to substitute Quinn 20 yards out and he smacked the ball low and hard through a ruck of players past Graham and into the home net to make it 3-1...
